Repeat Prescriptions
Ordering a Repeat Prescription
Choose the option that works best for you.
Please give us 72 hours (3 working days) to process your request.
We do not take repeat requests over the phone.
Make sure you order in time so you don’t run out of medicine.
If you order online, you can choose a pharmacy to get your prescription. This is called a nomination.
The NHS App
Order repeat prescriptions via the NHS App or NHS website, and have them sent to a pharmacy of your choice.
Use Online Services
The easiest way to order your prescription is by using our online services.
Your Local Pharmacy
Prescription Ordering / Collection
Pharmacies can collect your prescription from our practice.
They can also order your medicine for you. This can save you time and trips to the surgery. Ask your pharmacy if you want to use this service.
What Pharmacists Can Help With
Pharmacists are trained health experts. They can help with:
- Coughs
- Colds
- Sore throats
- Tummy aches
- Aches and pains
They can also suggest medicine you can buy without a prescription.
In Person
If you get repeat prescriptions, you can order them by:
- Filling out the prescription slip
- Or writing a note and putting it in the box at reception
For medicine you’ve had before but isn’t on your repeat slip, you can write a request by hand.
Please include:
- The patient’s name
- Date of birth
- The name of the medicine
By Post
You can send your prescription slip or a written request to the surgery by post.
If you can't pick it up, include a stamped, addressed envelope.
Please allow at least 7 days for posted requests.
Medication Queries
Please get in touch with the surgery to raise a query about your medication.
Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions
Some people do not have to pay for NHS prescriptions, dental care, eye tests, and travel to the hospital. These exemptions help those who might struggle to afford them.
The NHS prescription charge is a set amount. Governments have decided it is fair for those who can pay. If you need a lot of medicine, a Prescription Prepayment Certificate (PPC) can save you money.
You can take your NHS medications with you when traveling abroad.
For the latest prescription charge details, visit the NHS website.
These charges only apply in England. Prescriptions in Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales are free.
