Spring 2026 Covid booster vaccine clinic!

We will be inviting eligible patients to a spring booster clinic for the Covid vaccine in early April – as soon as the vaccines have been delivered.

The Department of Health and Social Care set the eligibility based on advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI). Covid vaccination will be offered in spring 2026 to:

• Adults aged 75 and over
• Residents in care homes for older people
• Individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed.

Immunosuppression includes patients undergoing:

• chemotherapy, radiotherapy, solid organ transplant recipients, bone marrow or stem cell transplant recipients, HIV infection at all stages, multiple myeloma or genetic disorders affecting the immune system.
• Individuals who are receiving immunosuppressive or immunomodulation biological therapy.
• Individuals treated with or likely to be treated with systemic steroids for more than a month at a dose equivalent to prednisolone at 20mg or more per day for adults.
• Anyone with a history of haematological malignancy, including leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.
• Patients on long term immunosuppressive treatment for conditions including, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease, scleroderma and psoriasis.

What is the Covid-19 vaccine for?

COVID-19 vaccination is an important part of protecting yourself if you’re at increased risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19.

The COVID-19 vaccines are offered because viruses change and protection fades over time. It’s important to top up your protection if you’re eligible.

Getting the COVID-19 vaccine can:

• help reduce your risk of getting severe symptoms
• help you recover more quickly if you catch COVID-19
• help reduce your risk of having to go to hospital or dying from COVID-19
• protect against different types of COVID-19 virus
